1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Legacy Stories ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Legacy Stories is an AI-powered platform that helps users create, preserve, and share personal and family stories. The Service includes story generation, image creation, voice narration, and related features.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

Free Plan

Limited to 1 story with basic features including AI narrative generation and 3 story templates.

Story Keeper Plan ($9/month or $79/year)

Unlimited stories, all 12 story templates, 5 AI images per month, PDF export, photo uploads, and unlimited books and chapters. Includes a 7-day free trial.

Legacy Author Plan ($19/month or $159/year)

Everything in Story Keeper plus unlimited AI image generation, AI audio narration, 5 Gift a Story links per month, and priority support. Includes a 7-day free trial.

Payment Terms

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Refunds are subject to our Refund Policy
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice

5. User Content and Ownership

Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to the stories, memories, and content you create ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your User Content solely to provide the Service.

AI-Generated Content

Content generated by our AI services (narratives, images, voice) based on your input is owned by you. However, AI-generated content may have limitations on commercial use depending on the underlying AI service terms.

Prohibited Content

You may not create or share content that:

  • Violates laws or regulations
  • Infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Contains hate speech, harassment, or threats
  • Includes explicit sexual content or violence
  • Impersonates others or spreads misinformation

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise the Service
  • Upload viruses or malicious code
  • Scrape or harvest data from the Service
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent limitations
  • Resell or redistribute the Service

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Legacy Stories and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works without our permission.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting your personal information and stories.

9. Sharing and Privacy Controls

You control the privacy of your stories. Stories are private by default. When you enable sharing, you generate a unique link that allows others to view the story. You may disable sharing at any time.

10. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

11. AI Service Limitations

AI-generated content is created based on your input but may not always be accurate or appropriate. You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content before sharing. We do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or suitability of AI-generated content.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in harmful behavior. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease, but certain provisions (ownership, liability limitations) will survive.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LEGACY STORIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legacy Stories from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

16. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive the right to participate in class actions.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
